Does the calf journal work without the internet?

Yes. After the first load the app lives on your phone and lets you add entries with no connection. Once you're back online, new entries upload automatically.

How much does the app cost?

It's entirely free for Cattle Expert customers. You can use guest mode without limits, but your entries will stay only on that device — to sync across devices you need to create an account.

Can I move records from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Export a CSV from your old software and bring it in through the Import tab. The app detects the ID, sex, date, weight, and breed columns automatically — even when they're labelled differently or in another language.

What can I record about a calving?

Date, calf sex, calving difficulty, dam ID, birth weight, breed, and veterinarian notes. You can configure which fields are shown — hide weight if you don't weigh calves, or show additional notes when you do.

Who can see my records?

Only you. In guest mode the data lives on your phone and goes nowhere. In account mode, entries sync to our server over a secure channel and only you can access them with your password. We don't share data with third parties and we don't run ads.

Can I open the journal on another phone or with my veterinarian?

Yes, as long as you have an account. Open the journal page on the other device, sign in with the same login, and your records will pull down from the server. In guest mode the data is tied to a specific device and browser.

What happens if my phone breaks or I accidentally delete the app?

If you were signed in, nothing is lost: everything is on the server and will come back when you sign in again. In guest mode we recommend exporting to CSV periodically and mailing a copy to yourself or uploading it to the cloud.

What languages does the app support?

Russian, English, and Swahili. Terminology was reviewed by livestock people from Russia, Kazakhstan, and East Africa — it isn't machine-translated. The interface language is picked from the switcher at the top of the site.
